The conventional "Taper" before an individual's goal event, whether it is a race, competition or a big hike or multi-day backpack or bicycle tour is a staple of conventional training. This is because the individual has to recovery from the training to reach the fitness levels for their event. Because OFM prevents the damage of oxidative stress and lactate load the individual not has the opportunity to 'hone and sharpen their edge' so they are not only fully recovered but in peak condition for their goal event.
