Metabolic Testing

Reset then build your metabolic capacity to reach your peak performance and make it part of everyday life. This is a 3-4 month process and the combination guides you to develop your individual OFM program.

In addition, you’ll have full access to the Metabolic Health & Performance Portal for four months. There you can find answers to almost any question you may have. The Adaptation Phase of OFM builds upon the foundation you have established with the Metabolic Reset (MR).  This is where we start to build aerobic capacity and, subsequently, metabolic capacity to develop the robust health and performance you have locked inside you. Most of the Adaptation Phase occurs over the course of 6-12 weeks but incremental gains continue, especially when the athlete is aware and diligent in their journey.

The Adaptation Phase starts through building aerobic capacity using several modalities of training; long aerobic (Zone 2), Intervals/HIIT, Tempo to challenge the cardiovascular system to adapt. As Aerobic Capacity is built so then building Metabolic Capacity follows. This occurs on a cellular level mostly with the cell wall lipid bilayer and the mitochondria. At the same time the hormonal balance established in the MR continues to stabilize.  While the fundamental goal of the Adaptation is to increase fat metabolism to performance levels, OFM does not neglect glycolytic pathways for the explosive power and ‘on demand’ energy necessary for performance. Maintaining these pathways also provides the adaptive stress of threshold level work to build metabolic capacity.

You will also be reintroduce concentrated forms of carbohydrates into your diet and, if appropriate, for fueling your endeavors. This is a dynamic process. As you build Metabolic Capacity generally your carbohydrate tolerance will increase. In most cases of the physically active the tolerance expands to the point where the individual does not consider themselves on a diet and eats in a much more intuitive fashion that removes the stress of a structured dietary plan.  Timing also factors into the equation and OFM teaches you  the concept of  “Strategic Carbohydrates” in terms of how and when to include concentrated carbohydrates into the diet and fueling for optimal performance and health results.

We recommend the purchase of the OFM Foundation Starter Pack and Vespa to get the most from your Reset. Neither are required but they can help reduce some of the effects the dietary changes can have on energy levels.

During Adaptation, you learn how to integrate the tools of OFM (diet, training, supplementation, lifestyle, etc.) with your specific individual variables to achieve a state of “Higher Health & Peak Performance” in a sustainable way.
